DLS thank you for the suggestion, I see where every one is coming from.. We use a local printer so thats probably why the price is high. Guy had 100 copies of GR printed. Way more than needed There will be something available at the convention ONLY Which I decided HAD to have the thicker cover...... and so I went for it. I think less copies of GR printed should mean that I will be able to make the thicker cover appear!!!!
Remember though I need letters, Q&A, and anything else you want to see in your fanzine...

Just a thought - if Guy invested in a reasonable laser printer (a good black and white one will costs less than £100) you guys could print off issues as and when required, rather than paying for a whole print run. Very easy to do, save the file as a PDF and then select 'booklet printing' and hey presto! Instant chapbook/A5 magazine. Colour's all well and good, but unless you're going to make it a FULL-colour issue, there's really no need. Extra content beats colour photos any day! Hope this helps. As a matter of interest, what did the printer charge Guy for the 100 issue run?

GR used to shift 100 copies per issue, and then sell a few back issues too. Could easily sell more with a bit of effort, IMHO. If GNS wasn't such a luddite, he'd realise he could run the mag up at home for peanuts. There's just no need at all for the services of a printer. He could knock up thicker versions too - collections of shorts or even novels. I'd much prefer a hard copy DIY book, along similar lines to 50 Tales From The Fifties, than either nothing or e-books only.

we have a B& W laser printer. I have tried Booklet printing on it before, i may try to persuade him again. I said to guy about putting up a small stall at the carnival through blackhill books and GNS but he said no one in knighton is interested - how does he know uinless he tries.
I will let him know all the suggestions

I said to guy about putting up a small stall at the carnival through blackhill books and GNS but he said no one in knighton is interested - how does he know uinless he tries. That's strange. A local author (and a celebrity no less), so I'm sure they'd be interested. Well, we'll all be seeing each other in Knighton the night before the convo, so introduce us to some local dignitaries and we'll see what we can do.

Question - Are there any plans for the publication of a new GNS novel (i.e. a new tale, not a re-release)?
I think this is the question that everyone wants answered...

Question 8
In the acknowledgements page of Fiend, Craig and Jill are thanked for their help. Is this the thriller writer Craig Thomas and his wife?
They used to live in the West Midlands, and I wonder if Craig gave Guy a hand with the research for the novel's Russian setting.
