As a lifetime GNS fan club member, there should be no need to order GR. Whatever happened to the free issue we're supposed to receive? If the Smith camp is really going to try charging people who already members of the fan club the new (increased!) price of £3.50 (plus p&p!) then I'll stick every Smith book and piece of ephemera I have on ebay and no longer consider myself a Guy N Smith fan.
This is a kick in the teeth for the loyal fans after the ridiculous debacles of recent years. In fact I'd go so far as to say it's a bloody outrage.

That Blobby2000 will get his mitts on them and resell them, like he did with Carol and Dan's collection. Ceri - is Annie still involved with Black Hill Books?

Got my (free!) copy today.
Layout is hugely improved, with nice colour photos now.
Content is a bit sparse, particularly in view of the cover price hike. But it's a 'proper' GR - which is a relief after the GWP ad brochure we got last time.

I had a limit on pages for this issue, but I think I will make it thicker next time - let me have ideas, what does it need... I will hopefully give the GR you all want next time

For me, it wasn't so much the lack of pages as the lack of content. Page 35 was completely blank. Could have put a short story there, maybe.
I would like to see the return of old favourites like the Loch Ness updates, recent big cat sightings in the UK, Kath's Column and the Graveyard short story competition. I also liked the serials that used to appear, both of GNS novels of the past and those of other writers (Night Of The Scorpions by Gary Smith). Would also like to see an updated version of Smithology serialised (by someone else this time lol). And perhaps more on the numerous, varied and usually interesting hobbies of GNS.
Oh, and I miss Wayne Donahue's Across The Water as well. Maybe he could be persuaded to resurrect his column.
Also, where has the NAFC logo gone from the front cover?
Erm...that's all I can think of, I'm sure others will have things to add.

Erm...that's all I can think of, I'm sure others will have things to add. Oh yes. I wondered about the NAFC logo. I think Wayne gave the column up after a few heavy commitments meant he was unable to continue it. Kath's Column was always great fun, but I think she and Pete moved on so it's unlikely to see that return. Definitely a GNS novel serialised - that's what I'd like to see. And perhaps a pipe-smoking column... Smithology? Well, David Z's material for Smithology/Self-Reliant Horrorist seems to be the natural replacement for that, and I think that's going to be a regular thing. And of course, my 'Killing Fields of Smithland' article was written as a homage to Smithology, so with any luck that'll see light in a future edition. As I said on the GNS board, the only quibbles I have are the paper cover (just a thicker gsm or card would be better, especially for the paying members) and change the font for the title and TOC. But now I'll go back through my old copies of GR and see if there are any other things that we'd like to see resurrected. During the Sandra Sharpe days many of the issues had a theme - e.g erotic theme for 19, Execution theme for 6, Cannibal theme for 8 and so forth - the GR story competition invited writers to come up with a story that would best fit the theme in the upcoming issue, and there was lots of artwork related to the theme as well. So perhaps that can be resurrected? Anyone else got some ideas of what they'd like to see in it?
