Thank you Bec. I'm feeling a little better today. I may celebrate by cracking open a can of beer. Ditto, my good man. Although a hot curry and a few whiskies are the best way to knock that cold on its head. Don't follow Simon Marshall-Jones' lead, though. That lunatic is having haggis curry tonight...

The cold has finally gone thank the heavens. Have I mentioned how much I hate colds? Anyway, I'm back on the writing, the creative juices are flowing again. The board seems to be picking up a bit, not much but there have been a few interesting posts.

You've got mine.
I've had the short story head on for so long the novel head has buggered off.

I spent most of yesterday editing and then re-editing my already edited work. when I went to bed and closed my eyes, I saw text. It was random sentences that made no sense full of typos, missing commas, full stops and speech marks.
What a weird experience. That's never happened before, still I'm glad I did re-edit the story as I can't believe that I still found the odd typo and missing grammar mark. That made me so mad you know?
Anyway, I just had to get that off my chest. The story is called Shades of Green and is the first of my novels that I'm sorta confident enough to release.
It's a strange feeling going back and re-reading one of my longer stories and after concentrating of writing short, sharp shockers for the past few months.

My first novel was released a couple of days ago to quiet celebration on Amazon. It's a little strange to think that I'd ever reach the point when I could actually say 'I have a book out' There were many stages throughout the last few years when I just wanted to give up, put the pen down and get on with reality. Now I'm so glad I didn't, although, I will admit that I am very apprehensive whether anyone will even like the book, it's still far better than having it sitting on my hard-drive gathering virtual dust.

Third Sight is now out there, fending for itself, My baby has left the bosom. This novel was the first one I ever finished, I was incredibly proud of myself when I finally typed ‘The end’ Now all this typing the end business was a few years back, as far as I was concerned back then, that was it, I’d done. (Cringe, cringe, the mindset of a novice writer) and onto the next story with great enthusiasm. (That was shades of Green, I think) Fast forward a year and I dug it out and re-read it. Oh Lordy, lord! What a mess. What a rubbish beginning, the ending was just as bad. Typos rules the doc, so did poor grammar. What do you mean indent the paragraphs? Punctuation within enclosed speech marks? You’re having a laugh, I’ve never heard of such a silly notion. Etc. Fast forward another year and after another spell in the virtual drawer, it gets dug out again, and re-written. So, is it any better now compared to the first attempt? Yes, defiantly. No typos or poor grammar? Er, there maybe a couple that have slipped through the net. Still, it is a cracking story, fast paced with scenes of humour and gore and a mustard yellow cardigan with bright pink buttons. So, what’s next? To capture an old Monty Python quote – And now for something completely different. My daughter asked me to write some stories that weren’t so gross, something to appeal to her age (14) Now I’ve read some of the stuff she likes and my first reaction was – ugh, no way, weird emo vampires and other such nonsense. But, in the end, I relented. Coming very soon – A collection of short stories called Fallen Snow, Spooky tales with ghosts and werewolves and teenagers…and other such nonsense.

This is the plug I'm using for my latest book. Hi folks! Okay dokey, I've just released my next full length novel, it's called Third Sight and is available on Amazon and Smashwords. www.amazon.com/dp/B004J4W0AG www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004J4W0AG www.smashwords.com/books/view/37367So Ian, what's it all about? I'm glad you asked me that. Right, Adrian's 19 years old, he enjoys going out with his mates, has a girlfriend and works in an electrical shop. The usual normal, everyday British teenager. So when a demonic entity enters his life, events take a turn for the worse. The demon latches onto Adrian and starts murdering his friends. It's how it survives you see. It feeds off the energy its host releases when the victim perishes. Did I not I not mention that it has to make the host watch every murder? So, there you go, that's Third Sight. Warning, it is violent, messy and gross. (There's also a realm of the dead and ghouls and walking dead folk too) Sorry about that. Oh yeah, it's also first person POV, so what poor Adrian witnesses, so do you!

I wrote 'The end' on my latest experiment tonight. I wanted to try writing something a little different Egged on by my daughter by asking if I could write a story that wasn't so gross, I decided to have a go with this paranormal romance that seems to be rather popular at the moment. (Don't kill me, like I said it's just an experiment) Oddly enough, I did rather enjoy writing them and I did get four shorts out in less than two weeks, that surprised me! Well, now to the job of typing the words up... What fun.

Cracking cover artwork there Mr Woodhead. Instantly made me think of Laymon's novel 'One Rainy Night'...but with zombies instead of nutters!!!
It's all coming along very nicely for you with your writing. Using some top quality cover artwork does add a much more 'professional' touch to a publication...IMO anyway. I think you'll see a big difference with interest (and subsquently with sales) with such a top notch cover.
Nice one!

DLS, which cover do you mean? mine has as axe, coated in fresh blood and lying in the gutter. P.S. DLS is the coolest superstar the world has ever seen. It reminded me of the scene in 'One Rainy Night' when the few remaining uninfected people have to fight their way out of the resturant. Just the picture I had in my head of that scene suddenly seemed realised in your cover artwork - if you replace the zombies with some rain-infected madmen!!! Was just the first thing that hit me as soon as I saw the pic.
