I've just been on Stuart Neild's site and spotted that his new book Fathom has a new release date.
Forgive me for sounding a little cynical here but Has this just not happened with Rakies book?
Does anyone know if there is a reason for this?

Well, you know my reply to this question.
I am now left gobsmacked by the news that GWP authors are now pushing a new product out for this publisher... a bloody wall clock!!!
If GWP had released a shit load of books on time I could understand the authors doing their bit to advertise the company. What I can't understand is why they do so when their books or short stories are yet to see the light of day.
This wall clock is just another ploy to excite the authors who seem so easily won over... What happened to their common sense?
And when it does turn bad they will return to the forums they have been pimping on stating how they feel so hard done by and shafted over.
They will expect sympathy from their loyal fan bases after having that loyal fan base hand over their honest, hard earned cash for nothing.
Will I show sympathy?
No.
I gave them the same info I had and recommend they look into it. Those (not many) with any principles did so and back away from GWP. The rest ignored and kept pimping despite knowing that something was wrong. Are the so desperate to be published? I don't know and to be honest I no longer care.

Garry summed it up well. The publisher is dangling carrots, which gets the authors involved all excited. But where are the books? GWP is supposed to be a publisher. But having been presented with all the evidence about the publishers past, how can they trust they will be paid accurately even if the books do appear? But if the books don't appear, the authors pimping the books and associated merchandise for pre-order are just as guilty as the publisher if the people who ordered lose their money. I know how exciting it is having the prospect of a book being available soon, and wanting to announce it to the world. But when previous problems with the publisher have been brought to light, wouldn't it be best to wait to see if/when the books are published instead of getting people to pre-order them? I suspect that if the shit hits the fan (which of course I hope doesn't happen, as I'd like to see the authors have their faith rewarded), I fear the authors involved will be held accountable if they have been getting people to order, knowing the facts of what's occurred before.

Strange. It works when I click it! Regardless, I hope it works out well for all involved.
