Damnation Books have the 'not recommended' tag on Preditors and Editors. I've been trawling the interweb, trying to find out more - and I found this: reimagineritual.wordpress.com/2010/02/27/open-letter-about-damnation-books/I've never heard of termination agreements before. What's worrying is that in the contract this gentleman signed there was no mention of it - and yet it was still legally binding. Has anyone else had problems of this nature before?

I've had kill clauses in contracts, but never any that involve the writer paying the publisher...

It certainly does - a blinding one at that!
Thanks, Ian.

This does bring up a very important question. A lot of new publishers are reliant for online advertising and/or business and lets face it, the net is a Godsend for that and yet, why do they not realise that folk they piss off will and can get their message across quite easily using the same medium?

Is it time to enter the Twilight Zone yet? This topic was born from a google search for Damnation Books. the link take you to a disgruntled author called Alex Smith... The last person to join this board! Is that coincidence?

There's been a few more comments at the end of that blog, as well.
Seems like someone else is having trouble with them - $150.00 in this case!
Welcome aboard, Alex. Please introduce yourself and make yourself at home.
And if you have any further information on this issue, please feel free to share it.
Many thanks.

That one's got quite heated, hasn't it? And a lot of speculation and dodgy legal 'advice' which the mods have quite rightly stamped upon. Still an interesting read, though!
