Being a horror author, do your family and friends ever wonder about you? What has their reaction been after reading your work?

As a writer of horror fiction, do you believe in things that go bump in the night?
I believe that there’s something strange, perhaps a parallel universe that sometimes coincides with our world, leading to strange occurrences. I also believe in little green men. I have an active imagination, and I’m open to anything that expands the boundaries of human existence.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
As writing isn’t my profession, I write in my spare time. I also read, watch films, go to the gym, and I’ve taken up Taekwondo. I pretty much keep myself busy. My full time job gets in the way.
What do you think needs to change before horror fiction is as popular as it was before the late 90's?
I don’t think people read as much regardless of the genre. To get people reading, they need to learn from an early age to love books. My partner and I both read stories to our son, and get him to read. Although he’s only 6 years of age, he is already well above everyone else in his class with regards his reading skills. I hope he will inherit my love of books and reading, and that it will bring him as much joy as it has to me.
Being a horror author, do your family and friends ever wonder about you? What has their reaction been after reading your work?
They all think I am sick and perverted. Why else would I write about dogging and killers all in the same story!

with respect to the kult, how far would you go for your friends? Would you go that far?

with respect to the kult, how far would you go for your friends? Would you go that far? That's something I wouldn't be able to answer unless I was in that situation, but probably not. Then again, when push comes to shove, who really knows ...

How long did it take you to publish your first book, after you started trying? It’s hard to remember, especially with old age creeping up on me, but I guess it took about three years to sell Evilution after I wrote it, and it was published in 2003. There has then been a gap of six years before the release of my latest novel, The Kult. Hopefully the wait for the next one won’t be as long as I’ve just signed a contract for my next novel, Deadfall, which should be released next Spring. If You Could Be Any Book Character Who Would You Be...? Well I’m already a book character, because there’s a little bit of me in every character I write – I just refuse to say which parts.

Amazon reviews good or bad? I get the feeling that many of them are not exactly honest if you get what I mean.

Amazon reviews good or bad? I get the feeling that many of them are not exactly honest if you get what I mean. It depends. If the review seems honest, then I'll take note of it. I do read them if I'm buying something, and you can sometimes tell if the review is fake. I also sometimes check to see how many reviews the reviewer has written, and how many helpful votes they have received. On the whole, I would say they are good though as they can help you decide whether to buy something or not. If all the reviews for something are bad, then I won't buy it.

Should an author write for himself or the fans? You hear so many stores of fans outrage when an author refuses to write another story based on one of there characters or set in one of their worlds.

I have to write for myself, as I don't have enough fans that will be bothered about what I write So it's a good job I like what I write, isn't it ;D
