Just finished reading M. P. Shiel's post-apoc novel 'The Purple Cloud'. If I'm completely honest, I would say that it was a tough read at times. The last third of the novel really began to drag. I'd still recommend it to anyone who's seriously in to post-apoc fiction though. Still battling on with the epic "The Passage" by Justin Cronin. A post-apoc/vampire novel (and no it's not a direct rip-off of Matheson's classic 'I Am Legend'). I'm about half way through and it's going well so far...

Shrike - Joe Donnelly The best horror novel ever to be set in Greenock. Actually, it's very good. It's a great pity he left the horror field... I love most of his stuff, and Twitchy Eyes felt like he was channelling my childhood.

Heart Shaped Box, by Joe Hill. An aging rock star buys a ghost on the internet. Sounds cheesy? Far from it. I'm a quarter of the way through it and loving every page. For once, the hype is justified.

Consider yourself smited... ...unless you tell me at what point the flaw is apparent so that I'll be ready for it - and ready to give Joe a bollocking at WHC next year.

Well obviously not everyone spots what I see as a major flaw. Let me know when you finish the book and I'll send you a message with my thoughts.

Been working my way through this series for the 1st time since the '80s. I'd forgotten how good they were.

I'm reading Writers Workshop of Horror, edited by Michael Knost. It's very helpful. (Although it's not a novel, so I probably shouldn't mention it on here, should I?)
I'm also reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes, by Stephen King. (That's not a novel either. Oops.)
