Now I must admit, I'm not a great watcher of that idiot box BUT, I having been keeping up with the exploits of Captain Jack and his chums on Torchwoord this week.

'Psychoville' on BBC2. The League of Gentlemen are brilliant. Also 'You Have Been Watching', i'll watch anything with Charlie Brooker!

Well, my lovely lady bought me the Survivors boxset a few weeks back, so we're both sitting down most nights to watch an episode or two. Already a third of the way through the second series.
I only ever saw the first and second series. I'm quite excited about watching the third series, although I've been informed that it's quite poor compared with the first two.
Favourite episode anyone? Dare I say 'Law and Order'?

Hey! Get this - I don't own a TV. At all. Dumped it seven months ago. It took much time as I was watching a lot of crapola.
I have a computer screen on which I can watch DVD though. A 24" jobbie.
I don't want a TV ever again.
My wife does.

I'd hate to not have the option of watching TV. I don't watch much TV at all...but it's good to have there if there's something good on. Plus I couldn't miss the snooker when it's on... But fair do's to you David. Sympathies to the wife though...

was watching nightmares and dreamscapes recently as well. I haven't seen this or indeed read the book. I'm not really a big Stephen King fan, but I have been known to dabble here and there from time to time. What's the tv servies like? How does it compare to the book (if you've read it)?

TV is indeed a good instrument for letting off steam, relaxing.....
But that's also the problem with it. While doing that I would get less discerning, and watch some right rubbish. Also, I'd get attached to some of these shows, convinced I actually LIKED and ENJOYED them.
But once I got away from TV for a while, I realized that I was getting very little from TV. I can relax better to music, conversation, a beer. It's easy to list the things you enjoy on TV, but to be honest in my case it probably amounted to 5% of what i actually ended up watching. The rest I THOUGHT I liked, but really I couldn't care less about. Take it away, and I didn't truly miss it. I sometimes missed the ROUTINE of watching it, but not the show itself.....
I like football, but I can see that online for free if I want... although I've fallen back in love with talk radio.......... I get commentaries there.

Quote: I'm not really a big Stephen King fan
You know, if I engaged my brain I could well go off on a rant about why King needs to just bugger off. I have no time for the guy.
He's the Tesco of literature. What has he brought to the table?
Sales, lots sales. And yes, for many that's something.
But what has he brought to horror novels, the horror genre, to writing?
Am missing something?
He's bloated, too often quoted, and just BORING. He has nothing to say now. And he hasn't for a long time. I don't get the impression he believes in what he's writing anymore, it's all written by process with no soul.
The Cell was shit. Absolute shit. I can't put it any other way. There are 100's of books more worthy of attention. But there it is, filling the shelves, hitting bestseller lists.
Shame.
