I just thought I'd ask.
Everybody Ok? What are you up to? anything good?

I just thought I'd ask. Everybody Ok? What are you up to? anything good? Nursing a hangover and trying to work on my work-in-progress, but this week it's been like pulling teeth.

In touch with that one. I've spent the last week trying to rip 4000 words out of my head. Put razorwire down a rabbit hole then stuck your hand down there, now pull it out.

I just thought I'd ask. Everybody Ok? What are you up to? anything good? I'll be worrying for the next three or four days. My dad has cancer and he's in hospital for an op to find out how bad it is and cut it out if they can. When I can, I'll mostly be drinking beer and trying to relax.

I just thought I'd ask. Everybody Ok? What are you up to? anything good? Into the last chapter of my current work in progress... always a good feeling to have the end in sight. Plus, it's now a Meikle tradition that I have a curry and a few bevvies when I finish, just to give me an extra incentive :-)

My writing has now slowed down to a standstill, I've lost my ability to taste words. Now do I carry on regardless, knowing that what I do write will be shit or just forget about it for a couple of days and come back to it with a clear head?

Better to write something you know won't be very good, rather than staring at a blank screen. At least if you have some text to review, you can decide what's wrong with it and set about making changes.

Thanks for that advice Darra. I did a little bit of writing today, just a few hundred words. Well, more like re-writing I suppose as I went over what I wrote down yesterday and made it sound a little less like a six year old wrote it.

You're welcome, Ian - but please note that any advice from me is to to be taken to with a large pinch of salt (mainly because, with the exception of my novel-in-progress, I haven't written anything worth reading since 2006). I need a drink. *cough*

I'm not doing too bad. About to shoot off to Bristol to see my sister (it's her birthday). Read 'The Breathing Dead' this morning. Poor uninspired debut that really needed a little more time and effort spent on it. Knocked out a review on it over lunch (posted in the reviews section).
Can't decide what to read next. Thinking of some more GNS. Dunno. I always enjoy the 'choosing the next book' process.
