Getting closer and closer to the con now.
I might well be arriving a little earlier on the Saturday as well. Hopefully mid to late afternoon. I'll go straight to the Horse & Jockey, park up, (hopefully) unload my stuff into the room and then go for a wander. If anyone else is arriving the same time or earlier, then you're more than welcome to join me on my little Knighton excursion...

I know Rakie haunts the Permuted Press forum, so you can try her there.

We'll be getting into Knighton station for 3 on Saturday. It said on the Horse and Jockey hotel website that you can't book in until 4pm.

Well if you get to a field, you've come to the end of the town. just turn around, walk five paces and you'll be back in the middle!

Hahahaha...although I'm impressed with the compact size of your sat nav. Mine's a little more on the cumbersome side...

A fantastic weekend! Nice drinks with Krabstick, Ian Dubya & missus, and DLS on the Saturday. Knighton has some very...erm, interesting people. We encountered a group of ladies who'd come back from an Anne Summers party and were keen to show us how effective their pheromones were. We politely declined... In the George we saw the worst Elvis Impersonator EVER and a chicken murderer who seemed to take excessive pride in his work. I was expecting a practical demonstration at one point... The Horse & Jockey is a great place. The rooms were fantastic, like Swiss chalets overlooking the courtyard. Drinks were very reasonably priced and the breakfast was quality. A morning trip to Clun castle on the Sunday was a bit of a let down as it was Scaffold City. Still, we got some nice photos of us all and they'll be going up on FriendFace soon. The convo itself...for many it was their first time and I think it's safe to say that everyone had a blast. There were goodie bags with a new chapbook, key rings and fridge magnets as well as a CD of an ebook collection of Guy's stories. I forgot to pick mine up, though... We finally got to see the original proof cover of FIEND with the artwork that Sphere had thought was too poor to release. As much as I love the second, Les Edwards cover, it's been spoiled for me now because everyone pointed out that Keschev looks like Fred Elliot. And to think at one time it- ah say it - scared me so much I couldn't bring myself to buy the book... The auction was very interesting; Guy was selling a working gallows that was used to promote The Hangman back in the 1990s. Sadly, as Henry the cat had been playing with it the demonstrated execution didn't go quite to plan...where's Pierrepoint when you need him? Great fun, though. Surprise visits from Dave Jeffery and Stuart Neild. Great to meet them at last and we had some very interesting chats... For me, it was one of the best conventions ever. And it was great to meet the BHNers. Shame Rakie and Darra wern't there, though. One thing puzzled me, though. Looking back on the posts it was said that Guy would be making a special announcement - yet that didn't go ahead. Did I miss something?

I second Ade's comments on the weekend. Was a corking time. Felt somewhat rough for the first half of the Sunday, but soon recovered (of sorts). Ade - post up your photos on here as well, for those amongst us who refuse to embrace 'that Scottish play'...i.e me!
