[/img] Okay, it's Sci-Fi, but then it's a fine line between a giant crab and a giant wasp, no? The Sci-Fi element here is that the Wasps are actually aliens that have taken on their form, but this is very quickly brushed over (in three pages total) before moving on to a human survivalist story. Combine two atomic blasts (one Russian, the other American) that destabilize the tectonic plates of the earth - ie: Destroys almost everything, with the coming of giant wasps and you get the picture. Essentially it reads very much like The War of the Worlds. Except it hasn't aged too well, which shows in the dialog. But what the hey. I found the story - which in the end is played out on a very small scale written as it is in the first person - to be rather limited, and at 219 pages it outstays its welcome a little bit. But the idea is pretty fun, and any killing bug or monster is good enough for me.
