Sadly I've not been reading much lately due to poor health. However, I have managed a couple books. This was one. Most people probably know this from the movie starring Albert Finney. In fact, it was partly my desire to watch that DVD again that led me to read the novel on which it was based. And so I gave it a go, and as it turns out it's an interesting read. It differs from the film in several ways, but the main one is that the Wolfen themselves are living, breathing, and THINKING creatures - with a history. So we get some insight into their language, why they do what they do, and "who" they are - their identity. As such it's quite interesting and adds another dimension. There is a rather jarring love thing going on (almost) between two cops, but that's about the only trouble. A worthy read this, and an 252 pages worthy of your time.

I have had this for years, and is one of my favourite werewolf books, even if they are not strictly werewolves.
I prefer this to the film, but like both immensely.
And I have the dvd as well.

I watched the movie over the weekend.
They change a few things for the movie, and sadly they're not able to translate some parts very well (how the Wolfen are so good at tracking people/objects) etc. The whole "terrorist" angle is not needed, and neither is the property developer thing.......
But it's a worthy film in many other ways, and I enjoyed it immensely.
What struck me the most though was the FX in the movie - from the Wolfen's point of view. They used the same FX as were used in Predator, including the "whipping" sound effect. However, it was a full 6 years BEFORE Predator..... interesting.
