Deathday Mr. Vaughan? Is that the one with the apology in the beginning of the book? Something about this was one of the first novels he wrote, never go published and some of the themes and events in Deathday were later used in his other stories. Still, if it's your fist SH novel, you won't notice that. Or is that another Shaun Hutson book I'm thinking of. We need a Shaun Hutson expert to clarify. Where's Funkdooby when you need him. He'll know.

Yep - that's the one. It's a bit of a strange introduction, since you'd expect and author to use and reuse certain things, wouldn't you? He claims to have written this one when he was 17.
It's early days (I'm on page 54) but so far so good. The writing isn't sophisticated in any way, but it's moving along quite well, imo. Mind you, they only just found the amulet!

Currently reading two great anthologies from the Wordsworth Mystery and Supernatural imprint: Uncanny Tales by May Sinclair & The Temple of Death by AC Benson & & RH Benson. I love the Wordsworth line, they do a load of great stuff for about 2.99 a throw (mostly Victorian and Edwardian ghost and horror stories, so if - like me - you like that kinda stuff, it's hog heaven)

The Swarm - Arthur Herzog.
With only 50 pages left, the big question is what is next?

Live and Let Die - Ian Fleming. It has not aged well in terms of 'race relations'. But the voodoo element is interesting.

Well, Djinn is over.
Not sure what to read next, to be honest.
I have a hankering for some Herbert - and I have a lot of his here.
But I also have a lot of others.... maybe someone new.......... Hmm
Don't know!
