Seen it - it's bad.
The cover art if good though.
There is one good scene where the shark JUMPS OUT OF THE SEA AND EATS A 747. But that's it.
The acting is horrendous, the CGI cheap.
Stay away.
Shame - twas a good idea...........

Cheers for the heads up.
I thought that it would probably be a cheap and nasty CGI affair.
I'll give it a miss then.

There's a whole slew of these around - mostly coming from the "Sci-Fi Channel" in the US.
Almost all rubbish. I love big monster movies, but the current crop are sub B-movie. The relentless march toward "realism"has taken all the fun out of it...............

I'm in two minds about Cloverfield.
It's a sci-fi movie with a monster, so one point for that.
It uses the first person perspective (through the camera), but most of the time it makes no sense to do so, it's not intrinsic to the plot - so I deduct a point for that.
The whole "go back for the girlfriend" subplot is ridiculous. Deduct one for that.
They borrowed/stole/homaged the final shot from Cannibal Holocaust. I'm deducting a point for that.
I think the film was "average". Nothing more.
I've seen stills from the follow up, and it appears we go to their planet and there's more monster action going on. I hope so.

I have to be 'in the mood' to watch any of them. I very much agree. I'm no monster movie fan...but the odd one here and there when the moon is right can be some damn fine entertainment.

NAh - I'm a BIG monster movie fan. The 50's were chock-o-block full of them, going right through to the 70's. The FX were cruder, but more fun to watch. You can't beat giant dinosaurs, scorpions, spiders, ants, locusts, rabbits, turkeys etc.
A fave genre of mine............... pulp movies!

I didn't know that they were already working on the follow up. I'm going to be surfing the web for teaser trailers when I get home tonight....

I found Cloverfield to be very slow and boring. The beginning could have been cut considerably to tighten the film up, so I'm in no rush to watch the next one.

You said it better than I did - be exalted!
I'll watch the next one though.
Night of the Lepus is cool. Watching those normal sized rabbits playing in the small models (supposed to be buildings and barns) is priceless.

What a great little trailer! Reminds me of the glorious tongue-in-cheek, zero-budget, 'Screen Edge' days. With the likes of 'The Dead Next Door', 'Homebrew' and 'Shatter Dead'...
