The thread title is kind of self explanatory really isn't it. The idea of this thread is to post up what you think have been the nastiest, goryest or most shocking moments that you've encountered in horror fiction. Post up as many as you like. When you remember one or come across one, post it up. Be sure to include the author's name, the novel's title and a brief description of the moment in question. If your nasty moment includes a spoiler, then make sure you state this BEFORE your description of what happens. Right....I'll get the ball rolling... Shaun HutsonCompulsionI had to start this thread off with the 'Embrodery Scene' that was censored from the UK release of Hutson's novel 'Compulsion'. **SPOILER** The old people have been fighting back against the youths who've been causing them so much havoc. When they get their hands on one of the youths, Donna Freeman, they take their revenge. Donna is held down whilst her vagina is slowly sewn up. Her fingers and thumbs are then removed, her tongue is cut out and her eyeballs pierced in order to blind her. Revenge has never been so sweet... If you haven't read the full version, then here's a link to the passage that was removed: www.shaunhutson.com/exclusives/cut/pdf/embroidery.pdfRight...who's next?

I'll go
for me its probably Shaun Hutson again
book: Nemesis
***SPOILER*** This probably wont rank high in other peoples books but I have an aversion to penises getting ripped off. The scene in question is near the end of the book when the criminal who murdered the mani characters daughter (i cant remember their names, apologies!) has the main characters pregnant wife held captive for the death of his criminal mate. he begins raping her in front of the main character only to have his penis gripped by the womans unborn child and ripped off entirely. then it drops out of her vagina, Teeth style.
probably not as bad as half of Hutson's stuff but like i said, aversion!!! ha ha ha

For me, Pete Merrick in Crabs: The Human Sacrifice. He's a psycopath who has completely flipped and started worshipping the crabs. They're slowly dying of cancer...and he butchers a dead one and makes his girlfriend join him in eating rotting crab steaks That scene remains the only one I've ever read that actually turned my stomach. No amount of Hutson comedy violence could ever match it.

Richard Layman: The Cellar
His paragraphs on a pedophile with a young girl are just..... nasty.
Taboo's always rile the nerves.

I could be here all day with these. But first one that popped in my head was in Guy N Smith's ABOMINATION, when the lady is attacked by the big earwig thingys and they invade here most intimate orifices.

In THE HOUSE, the third volume in Michael McDowell's BLACKWATER series, a character is slooowly crushed to death by a strange vengeful woman and stuck in a croker sack.
"Carl prayed for death, but death did not come. Neither did unconsciousness. Though his body below his neck seemed a continuing explosion of pain, his head maintained an unmerciful clarity through it all. The pain, he considered, could not be worse, not in a thousand deaths, not in a thousand years of hell.
But Carl was wrong."
And that's not even the description of what she did to him! A real butt-clencher, and all the more disturbing b/c the series is mostly creepy, not violent. It prefigures a lot of Clive Barker's stuff, particularly "The Last Will and Testament of Jacqueline Ess."
