Borders on Oxford Street was very disappointing.
One side of the horror section had two entire rows of empty shelving... looked very poor.

Waterstones in Leeds was very impressive. Stacks of the usual suspects (Herbert, King, Koontz) They also had a smattering of Leisure novels plus quite of fair amount of small press books.

I'd rather see them selling more books by small press / independent publishers, rather than simply increasing the shelf-space devoted to the usual suspects.

yep unfortunately as you said half the horror section seems to get taken up by paranormal romance... it is good to see some of the smaller presses managing to get their wares into the bigger stores though.

I'll second that! Not a particularly huge selection, but got quite a few good Leisure novels from that store. Borders on Oxford Street has quite a good selection too (when the shelves are filled, of course!)

We have two Waterstones in Exeter, one now has no horror section at all that I've seen, the other is alright but has way too many 'vampire love horror' books and have very few, if any, of British authors and have not bought anything from them for a while due to this selection.
