Does anyone know if he has a new book in the pipeline?

According to wikipedia he's writing the third David Ash book, possibly slated for a 2010 release.
I understand he's been ill recently, hence the delay.

He's due to hand it in soon, so should be out for Spring.

Got any inside info on this Matt? Perhaps a title?
Any idea if it really is going to be another David Ash novel? I really enjoyed 'Haunted' and 'The Ghosts of Sleath'.

I wasn't much for them, and I thought his latest work has gone downhill very fast and it doesn't have the energy of his earlier work.

Well...nothing compares with the holy trinity:
The Rats The Fog The Survivor
Herbert did go off the boil somewhat after these initial three novels, but still almost all of his books have been of a very high standard.
I like to pretend that 'Portent' doesn't exist by the way!!!

Sorry, DLS. Do yourself a favour and bin it. I thought Once was the worst book he'd written until I read this.
Let's not be too hard on JH, though. Granted, his recent work hasn't been up to the standards set in the past...but what standards he set!
Let's hope he gets back on track with David Ashe III...

Sorry, DLS. Do yourself a favour and bin it. I thought Once was the worst book he'd written until I read this. Shite!!! I was hoping that people were going to come back saying it was a corking read. I was thinking of cracking on with it next...think I'll leave it for a rainy day instead. Let's not be too hard on JH, though. Granted, his recent work hasn't been up to the standards set in the past...but what standards he set! I 100% agree (see earlier post). Herbert may not be knocking out groundbreaking novels like 'The Rats', 'The Fog' etc, but he's still producing damn good horror novels with intriguing and dramatic storylines. And come on. Who didn't like '48? A post-apocalyptic treat for everyone. 'Once...' did make be cringe somewhat though. And don't get me started on 'Portent'.

yeah 48 was pretty awesome, nothing like the post apocalyptic world to get your juices flowing!!
i thought creed was a pretty good novel as well!

Yeah, creed was quite cool. Although I thought this particular cover of Creed made it look like it was going to be frigging awesome: Remember boys and girls...never judge a book by its cover.
