Congratulations... I think. Yes, you are in good company. The next synopsis I think I'll be doing will be a shortened version for Shades of Green. It seems that a lot of publishers want this instead of/as well as the first few chapters.

It seems that a lot of publishers want this instead of/as well as the first few chapters. I've written two page synopses of all my books, some before the actual book, some after. In some ways, it's easier to do it up front and change it as you go along :-)

It's taken me just over a week to get six thousand words out of my head on onto paper. Am I excited? Well of course I am! I must admit, this working to first draft lark does seem to be working, at least for the moment. I'm hoping that once I get round to typing it up on Word, the process will feel more like a major edit as opposed to a major re-write. Thanks to Ade going through my first couple of novels with a rhetorical red editing pen, I'm feeling a lot more confident to crit my own work. Well... best get back to it.
BTW, I bought the boxed set of the first season of Jericho in a 2nd hand shop today for a bargain price of £3.50. Oh, I also had a Wimpy halfpounder too...yum!

Oh, I also had a Wimpy halfpounder too...yum! God, I haven't had a Wimpy Burger for ages. What was it like? Do they still put that Marie Rose sauce in the quarterpounders? With brown buns? I loved those...

My halfpounder was in a brown bun, on a proper plate with chips NOT fries!
A quality meal but the only drawback was that it cost £6.chuffing 90. I think the price probably explains why Wimpy is now a rare sight on the streets of our towns and cities.

I sent Shades of Green off (Again) This morning. I waved it away with a tear in my eye wondering if this time, the story will find a suitable home.
I also started on another short story, I'm aiming for about 4000 words.

I think I'm getting the hang on this short story lark. I'm surprised just how much I'm enjoying writing them, they're not quite as much of a mindf*ck as a full length story is are they! (Grin) I've set myself two per month for the time being. Let's hope I don't end up with a pile of unsellable stories.

The Shortstorython continues!
i'm into my third week and I'm onto my third story. So far, I haven't lost the pace nor the plot. I wonder which will go first. Neither, I hope.
Now, I put out a call on FB this morning for pre-readers so I'm now doing the same on here. If anybody wishes to read what I've written and feel confident enough to offer constructive criticism, please PM me.

Good luck with the stories, Ian.
There's a helpful critique group over at cafedoom.com.

Week four of Shortstorython is nearing the end and so is my latest story, which is titled Lumps.
To date, I've written the following.
Blood Curse Beg the other Man Two Skins Spore Control Lumps
Bloody hell! The titles look good written down. Well, As Willie Miekle says.. Writers write and wannabe writers wanna write. Or something like that.
Oh, before I go, I'm going to be uploading Spore Control onto Smashwords as a free download.

The trick now is to keep the pedal to the metal and not slip into neutral :-)

An experiment.
Is it possible, with today's technology to find 1000 people to read one story from an unknown author? If it is, how long would it take?

I had this bloody cold now for the past week and it's getting to the point where I'm no longer finding it funny. I hate colds. Oh, Spore reached1000 downloads a couple of days ago on Feedbooks and is approaching 1000 on Smashwords. (woo. Etc) I should be dancing but at the moment I can't be bothered. What's happened to the BHN board these past few days? The posters have dropped off the radar. Even the regulars don't seem to be regular lately. Has everything REALLY been said about British horror
