hence why lovecraft is the best for dark horror!! lol
i think that Alejandro Jodorowsky would probably makle a good job of it, as long as it encompasis the whole feeling of isolation and forboding i wont care. and also as long as it doesnt end up degrading into a total action flick i'll be happy lol.

Del Torro wrote: Director Guillermo del Toro has written a screenplay based on Lovecraft's story, but in 2006 had trouble getting Warner Bros. to finance the project. Wrote Del Toro, "The studio is very nervous about the cost and it not having a love story or a happy ending, but it's impossible to do either in the Lovecraft universe."[17] Elder Things can be seen in his film Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Hmmmmmm...I can certainly imagine that it might be quite costly to do this well. I wonder if anything will ever come of it. I'm beginning to be doubtful after reading that.
But who knows. Maybe it will see the light of day at some point.

Amazingly Jodorowsky has a new movie in pre-production for 2010.
He's hardly prolific, his last work was in 1990.
I have all his movies (as Director). Santa Sangre is the best, and the UK DVD is by far the best version (the extras are amazing).
If he'd be good for a Lovecraft movie I can't say. But it's worth noting that he always puts a lot of himself into his movies, so he might take over a little.
Del Torro is brilliant. By far his worst films are the Hellboy titles.

Amazingly Jodorowsky has a new movie in pre-production for 2010. Bloody hell...something else I had no idea about! This forum really is proving to be a great place to find out about stuff. Any idea what it's about? I have all his movies (as Director). Santa Sangre is the best, and the UK DVD is by far the best version (the extras are amazing). A man after my own heart. But come on...let's here it for El Topo. What a truly f**ked up piece of cinema. Del Torro is brilliant. By far his worst films are the Hellboy titles. I haven't seen the Hellboy films. Only seen Pan's Labyrinth & Cronos. Thought both were superb though!

Very little info on it. It's a crime/drama/fantasy ;D
"The story is to be set in a casino in the desert. The film involves gangsters, the discovery of a man as big as King Kong, and Marilyn Manson is said to portray a 300 year old pope. "
Sounds good. --LOL--
The Hellboy films are good - worth seeing. But they're super-hero films. So if you expect that - then they deliver.
More importantly, Del Toro had acted as producer on some GREAT films. Check out The Orphanage.
The Devil's Backbone is essential too.

I liked Hellboy 1&2, i htink its cos i'm a big fan of the comic. But Del Torro is a good director and seems to get the best out of his films... i am not counting Blade 2 though, that was a pile of old balls.
i heard he was planning to do 'Madness' about 4 years ago so it is a good possibility that it probably wont get made. but i will always keep hoping cos i think it'd be f*ckin AWESOME!!!!!

Seen both 'The Orphanage' and 'The Devils Backbone' both classics in my eyes. the Orphanage gave me the heebies in a few places though lol.
Pans Labryinth is amazin, the Pale Man is probably one of my fav bad guys ever!
Cronos i havent seen, though i'm sure someone told me that you'll either love it or hate it, not sure if it was defo Cronos they were talkin about though.

Anna Walton.
Enough said.
Worth watching in Hellboy 2.
But she made Vampire Diary, a shot on video film that shouldn't have been any good. But with her performance it's just great. Even if you hate it, when she's on the screen it's so erotic you might well explode.
And she's on the screen A LOT.

Ohhhh...she looks rather lovely. I wasn't familiar with who she was, but good old Google Image sorted me out. Looks like a charming young lass.

i think in Hellboy 2 she's like an elf princess, still looks pretty good under all the make up and the big dress thing she wears. but i think i will have to look for this Vampire Diary...

Good God - I've been into horror for so long I can't remember what got me into it in the first place.
I think it was the scary monsters in Doctor Who - and I remember getting a book out of the school library (infant school, that is) about funfairs just because I liked the pictures of the skellingtons in the Ghost Train.
