Rejection from Leisure on a novel... it took them a year.
Nice personal rejection though, and nice things to say about the book, so not -too- disheartened.

Don't let the bastards grind you down.
Not that the wonderful workers at Dorchester are bastards but I'm too tired to think of a more appropriate metaphor.

My blog has had one of its periodic overhauls. Blogger now lets me add extra pages, and I've added pages about me, my books, ebooks, chapbooks and anthologies, all with links where to buy the books. There is also a page with links to online stories and podcasts for free reading and listening, and a section on writing tips. Come on over and see the shiny things. williammeikle.blogspot.com/

Thanks Ian... I'm looking forward to this, as surprisingly to me anyway, my Kindle ebooks are easily outselling the print ones by quite some way. Plus we can remarket the Watchers series and The Book of The Dark as paranormal romance and pull in the Twilight crowd... they'll be knee deep in blood and gore before they spot they've been had ;-)

Nice one Willie. I'm still yet to read much of your work I'm afraid. I read your delightful shorts 'Rickman's Plasma' and 'Stingers' in the now slightly controversial 'Creature Feature'. I've also got a copy of the GWP chapbook of 'The Island', but haven't actually read it yet (I know I know...poor show).
I really should get around to giving some more of your stuff a read. Preferably a full length novel, instead of just a short story. What would you suggest?

My personal favorite character is the PI in The Midnight Eye Files, so give The Amulet a try -- Scottish PI who drinks and smokes too much gets involved with a classy dame in the search for an Amulet that has the power to bring back the old gods. Beer, fags, wee sweary Scotsmen and an ancient evil from beyond the veil. What's not to like? :-) Currently cheapest at The Book Depository with free shipping www.bookdepository.com/book/9780976791461/The-Midnight-Eye-Files

I miss big trees. Over here in Newfoundland we have many trees, but most are thin conifers, stunted and bent by wind and ice. I miss oaks, chestnuts and the tall red Scots Pines of my homeland, trees that have marked their spot, put down roots and said to the world, "This is my place." I've been a bit of a nomad since I left my parents home at the age of 17, living in twenty different places, always restless and looking to the horizon. But for the first time in a while, the place we are now feels like home. Roots are being established. Today we planted a young Maple tree in the garden, one of the ones with a potential to be tall and strong and solid. This is my place.
