Hmm. Flying monkeys and faceless nuns.
I bet the video to Basement Jaxx's Where's Your Head At - with the human faced monkeys - freaks you out as well...

I think the most disturbing film I've ever seen is Funny Games - both the original German version (1997) and the English language remake with Naomi Watts and Tim Roth.
Horrible. Really, really horrible.

Fire in the Sky is one of the only films I actually can't see myself watching on my own again.., if ever!!!! Oh, and I have to add 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' (1973) I saw it when I was about 9 and it terrified me, I watched the trailer for it recently and it still has the same ominous oppressive feel to it!!!!

'Rosemary's Baby' scared the crap out of me as a kid. But when I watched it again, aged 24, I just thought, 'Bleh.' I'm with Garry - films stopped scaring me years ago.

Without a doubt for me, it's the original The Haunting. www.imdb.com/title/tt0057129/I watched this again recently, and seriously, I was disturbed and had a hard time sleeping afterwards. So very good. The remake sucked.

'Jaws' when I was 4.
Then it would have to be 'Horror Express' when I was about 12 or something.
I still think 'Blair Witch' is scary...and I'm happy to argue with any of you until the cows come home on that.

What is it with this forum and mutant cyborg things? P.S. Noone want to get into a 'Blair Witch' argument? Come on...it was almost universally hated by horror snobs worldwide. Anyone who'd sat through Cannibal Holocaust or The Last Broadcast dispised the film. Although I still stand by it being a classic piece of scary cinema. Here's an image that usually gets people rolling their eyes:

I quite liked the Blaire Witch Project, the second one was a bit naff but even that had some creepy scenes in it.
its not a horror but the ending to 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' used to freak me out when i was younger!

I remember being scared shitless of the first episode of the TV adaptation of Stephen Gallagher's 'Chimera'. I haven't seen it since it was first shown, but I have vague memories of the bit where our little chimera friend escapes from the Jenner Clinic. A bowl of fruit mixed with blood is found spilled all over the floor. That one image stuck in my memory for years afterwards...dunno why. On a bit of a side-note, I reviewed the novel, which can be found here if you're interested: britishhorrornovels.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=reviews&action=display&thread=179

Blair Witch is a terrific film, a masterpiece. Masterpieces often happen by accident - this was such a case. The second film is very different, but worth seeing. One of the guys went on to make a sci-fi film, forget the name, began with the letter A...... anyway, it was rubbish, imo. Blair Witch though - a modern classic.
