So many want works well under 100,000 words. Hell, even Dorchester Publishing's Leisure imprint will only take new works that are between 80-90k. Ridiculous really.

Really felt like you were getting your money's worth. Interestingly, when he went over to Vista, his next three books were well under the 450 page mark. Perhaps Gollancz had a more ruthless editor than Headline...
