now, is this a great idea or a frickin stupid idea? i can't decide: www.blackle.comsee, it's google, but black. Because black screens use less energy than white screens. So if everyone swapped their home page from google to blackle, we'd save X amount of energy. i can't decide if i like the idea or if it makes me want to face palm people.

And to get you started on dusting off your blog, I've discovered your Wu-Tang name:
RAKIE KEIG - you are hereby known as DRUNKEN OBSERVER (but your married name of Bennet is FEARLESS MERCENARY)

wow, it's been almost a year since i was last on here! good lord, what've i been doing with my time?
(Stepps - thank you for my Wu-Tang name! ahahaha, Drunken Observer, i think that suits me well...)
so, what HAVE i been doing for nigh on a year? well, i quit my old job after deciding i didn't really like it anymore, then i had a couple of months of 'interesting' unemployment, and now i'm temping. Which, y'know, pays the bills at least. And, as has been pointed out, i got myself married! me and my significant other finally got round to tying the knot in february (pictures on facebook if you're so inclined).
also, i'm still writing, altho i took a few months off last year while i sorted my life out. I've just finished a new novel (currently called "Savage Jungle") which i'm quite happy about - kinda swords and sorcery stuff, but without the sorcery and with more zombies. Swords and zombies. In the jungle. Anyway, i'm planning to run it by one of my writing groups at some point in the (hopefully) near future, so fingers crossed they won't tell me it sucks. ;D
there is possibly some hopeful news about The Moths as well...

things i learned today:
1) Kevin McKidd was in Trainspotting 2) I would REALLY like to watch Trainspotting again 3) I'm not sure if i could physically sit through Trainspotting again
Seriously, i don't think any movie since American Werewolf so effectively terrified me. Just thinking about the scene with the baby makes me shudder. Which is daft, because it's such an awesome movie and i would love to watch it again, but... i don't know if i can face sleeping with the lights on for a week afterwards. ;D
i also discovered:
4) I may have a slight girl-crush on Kevin McKidd
How worrying.

Great film. And as harrowing as the cold turkey/baby scene was, it's still this bit that gives me shudders...

started a new project this week, woo. At the moment it's called "The Silver to the City", and i'm hoping it'll be more action-sci fi than straight horror this time - no zombies, but lots of fast cars and alien worlds, kinda like Hot Wheels (i love Hot Wheels). If it goes okay, it'll be (by my reckoning) my 15th completed novel, so fingers crossed.

it's actually the 14th, i miscounted. ;D
of those previous 13... at least two are completely unreadable and will never be read by anyone again. ;D Then one was about vampire pirates, one was killer glow-worms, one about a haunted belltower... hmm, what elseā¦ a guy who lives in the TV and hunts monsters, a supernatural detective, a post-apocalyptic city where nightmares come to life, a time travelling law enforcer who's totally not a rip-off of Time Cop, jungle zombies, and world war II zombies. I think that's all of them. Plus 'Terror Island' and 'Moths'. So, 13 at the moment, unless I've blanked any others out. And from those, maybe two or three are actually readable. ;D
