The nest was first published in Sep 87, by Zebra books. According to the monster librarian website the movie was based on the book.

Jim - You're a frigging genius!!!
Well, there we go. There has indeed been a pulp horror novel with cockroaches taking exception to mankind.
I now have a new misssion - Track down the paperback of 'The Nest'. If anyone manages to find a copy before me, then please do give it a full review. I'm really interested in how it compares to the film (which I'm happy to send a copy of to anyone who manages to obtain the book for comparrison reasons).
This really is a damn good forum to post on!!!

has there been one with Jellyfish? There certainly has my friend. John Halkin's 1984 novel 'Slime'. And it's an absolute beauty. Got to get around to reviewing it one of these days...

A search on the internet later and here the beauty is: The Nest by Eli Cantor (under the psedonym of Gregory A Douglas). Just purchased the one and only copy they had on eBay for a total of £2.98 (inc. the P&P costs). Throw your karma at me boys & girls... Because of my above purchase via the chat on this thread, this forum has just won "Forum Of The Year" in my eyes. Can't wait to get my hands on the book now. The film was a blast....the book's surely going to be a winner!

Not a bad list at all. Missing a fair few 'creature vs mankind' novels, but quite a good list nonetheless.
The addition of 'Clickers' was an odd choice. I wouldn't include the two books in a 'creatures vs mankind' list myself.
I'm very tempted to compile 'The Ultimate Creatures vs Mankind Pulp Horror Novels List' myself.
Actually....I think I bloody well will...

Of course, there's always this new addition to the 'Creatures vs Mankind' genre now as well... Giant Killer Eels....nice work Mr Neild (whose posted twice on this forum so far).

Stuart is mostly offline at the moment. He's got a very sick wife to attend to... plus he's working on an "evil gnome" book that I'm greatly looking forward to.

I don't remember there being a pulp horror novel involving cockroaches (although I'm quite surprised that there hasn't been one). Anyone know of one? God, I'm such an idiot. Whilst compiling my massive 'Creatures vs Mankind' list (which is going to be frigging awesome), I was remided of Richard Lewis's novel 'Night Killers'. Cockroaches on the rampage my friends. How did we forget it?...Although I haven't actually read my copy of it yet!
